In Business to Business, most development paths are clearly visible. Where are the minefields of productivity, where are the growth drivers, what drivers do I have at my disposal? No market study is necessary at this stage; common sense is often enough.
The growth model though, is less obvious. You can choose between a totally supervised development, usually longer and more laborious, or choose a partially shared development package, much quicker and obviously costing less.
